Ranking the Top 15 NBA Point Guards under 25!

Steph Curry, Dame Lillard, and James Harden all had dominating seasons throughout the 2010-2020 decade. They revolutionized the way point guards play, by not only being the main distributors on their teams, but also being the go-to scorers. Steph & company have changed the way point guards play in the NBA, and now there's a new group of point guards playing in this league that like to score as well as make plays for others. So without further ado, lets look at who's the best NBA point guards under 25!

1. Ja Morant - 22 - Memphis Grizzlies

Ja Morant has taken the league by storm this season and the Memphis Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA because of it. He is averaging roughly 26, 6, & 7 and he is proving to be one of the best point guards in the NBA regardless of age. I would say the only point guards better than Ja are Steph & CP. Right now I might take Ja over Harden, Dame, and Kyrie. Also, Draymond Green, one of the most brilliant minds in basketball, recently stated that Ja Morant possesses one of the best IQs in the NBA.

2. Luka Doncic - 22 - Dallas Mavericks

When Luka first came into the league, he dazzled fans with his moves, savvy, and dominating numbers and he still is. He's like a European, a bit shorter, slower, more offensively focused version of Lebron, and the crazy thing is he's only 22! He seems so much older to me, but he has a long ways to go in this league. Luka is putting up 26, 9, & 9 this season for a solid Dallas Mavericks team.

3. Trae Young - 23 - Atlanta Hawks

Trae Young is still an idol for all my little guys out there. I may have a couple inches on Trae Young myself, but I'm still a little guy when it comes to basketball and what Trae Young has done in his brief professional career has been nothing short of inspirational. Individually, he is having yet another stellar season, averaging 28, 4, & 9, but his Atlanta Hawks team seems to be battling for a Play-in spot.

4. Darius Garland - 22 - Cleveland Cavaliers

Darius Garland has been maybe the most surprising lead guard this season. The 3rd year guard is putting up 20, 3, & 8 this season and is leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to the top of the Eastern Conference. Personally, I love Garland's game. He is super shifty, a great passer, and he can shoot it as well.

5. LaMelo Ball - 20 - Charlotte Hornets

The youngest Ball Brother and the second youngest player on this list is killing it in his second season. The Hornets are having a solid season; they're currently sitting in the 7th spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Also, LaMelo is averaging 20, 7, & 8 for the Hornets.

6. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 23 - Oklahoma Thunder

Its not a secret anymore! Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can play. Shai is putting up great numbers again this season, averaging 23, 5, & 6 and he is showing off his impressive combination of size, skill, and poise. The only problem is that the Thunder aren't very good. I hope for him that the Oklahoma organization start making some moves to surround with him some more talent, so he can start playing some meaningful basketball games. Also, I will note that his FG% has dropped this season, but if he was surrounded with a little more talent, defenses probably wouldn't be so honed in on him.

7. De'aaron Fox- 24 - Sacramento Kings

My fellow Cypress, TX native, Swipa da Fox has had an interesting season thus far. Even though he is playing in an organization that may not even want him (they have 3 point guards on this list) and he is shooting only 25% from beyond the 3 point line, he is still averaging a solid 21, 4, & 5. Although his future in this league may be unknown and he has yet to lead a team to the playoffs, Fox has shown that he is still one of the best young guards in the NBA.

8. Lonzo Ball - 24 - Chicago Bulls

An old school type of guard, the oldest Ball Brother, Lonzo is having a very successful season as part of the Chicago Bulls. Ball enjoys getting his teammates involved, spacing the floor and being a terror on the defensive end, which I'm sure will help the Bulls' hopes of winning the Championship this season. Yes, I said it. The Bulls are a championship contender. Ball, who is putting up 13, 5, & 5, is one of only 3 point guards on this list who I believe is on a Championship contending team.

9. Tyrese Maxey - 21 - Philadelphia 76ers

Tyrese Maxey is having a really solid season for the Philadelphia 76ers. He is playing so well, that if Philly can somehow get out of this Ben Simmons fiasco without losing much of their core, that I think they pose a threat to win a title this season. That is how good Joel Embiid has been playing this year, and that is how important of a piece I think Tyrese is to this Philadelphia team. The young guard is averaging 17, 4, & 5. Also, what is scary about Tyrese is that he shoots over 40% from 3 and he rarely turns it over. The words "Efficient" and "young point guard" usually don't go together.

10. Jordan Poole - 22 - Golden State Warriors

My light skinned brethren Jordan Poole has been one of the most consistent players on the Warriors this season, which isn't easy with unpredictable minutes as a reserve and playing in an inconsistent rotation. He was starting while Klay Thompson was out and is now coming off the bench. Putting Poole on this list may be controversial though, because he is seen more as a combo guard and some have him leaning more towards being a shooting guard. Poole is averaging 17, 3, & 3 this season.

11. Cole Anthony - 21 - Orlando Magic

I am going to have be honest. When Cole Anthony came into the league, I didn't know much about him and I didn't really believe he would be that good, but he is. The Orlando Magic are in full rebuild mode, but they have a good amount young talent to make for a good future. Anthony is averaging 18, 6,& 6 this season, which is really nice in year 2, but I think what I like most about him is that he is a DOG, and he isn't intimated by anyone on the court.

12. Tyrese Halliburton - 21 - Sacramento Kings

Stat guys love Tyrese Haliburton. He shoots it well from the field (47%) and from 3 (42%) and he shoots it well from the free throw line as well (83%). In Tyrese's second season he is averaging 14, 4 & 7, and from the stat guys' point of view, those numbers would probably receive a heavy increase if the Kings were to ship Fox off. The future of the talented Sacramento backcourt remains to be seen.

13. Anfernee Simons - 22 - Portland Trailblazers

Anfernee is one of my favorite young guards in this league. The reason being: he is very difficult to guard. He can shoot from all 3 levels, has good length at 6'4, and is a really good athlete as well. The young combo guard has benefitted from Dame Lillard's limited action this season and is relishing in the moment. Simons is averaging 16, 3 & 4 this season and I think next season those numbers will inflate big time if the Blazers move Dame Dolla.

14. Cade Cunningham - 20 - Detroit Pistons

I just want to say that Cade Cunningham reminds me so much of Brandon Roy. A very skilled, big guard, who is rarely in a rush. He had a really rough start to the season, but Cade has played very well as of late and looks to be becoming everything Detroit had hoped by choosing him with the first pick in the draft. He still turns the ball over a lot and could improve his shooting percentages, but his overall stat line isn't too shabby: 16, 6, & 5.

15. Kevin Porter Jr. - 21 - Houston Rockets

KPJ and the struggling Rockets hopefully have a bright future. Porter Jr. has definitely shown flashes of brilliance and playmaking prowess, but he also shown signs of bad decision making and lack of self-control. He is currently averaging 13, 4, & 6 this season. KPJ is only 21, so he does have plenty of time to improve his point guard skills. I do like KPJ a lot and I believe he is a true hooper. I just think he needs to mature a little bit in order to live up to his potential.

Honorable Mention:

Davion Mitchell - 23 - Sacramento Kings

I love Davion Mitchell's game. He plays both ends and is averaging 10, 2, & 3 in a reserve role in a very talented backcourt.

Jamal Murray - 24 - Denver Nuggets
